06: From NYC to LA and Why You Need to Show Us Your Room (Lisa McQuillan)

I remember when I met Lisa McQuillan. It was none of your business year in Couzens Hall, up on the Hill at UM and we have been friends since then. Lisa has always been driven and has created opportunities for herself and others. Despite being introverted, she's very connected to others. She's brilliant, funny and engaging (most of the time).

What can be said about a woman who sold her first TV pilot by age thirteen? I’d say she was probably lying, so let’s talk about Lisa McQuillan instead. With a B.A. in Film from the University of Michigan, an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from UCLA, and a Certificate of Completion from the least expensive traffic violation school on the entire west side of Los Angeles, Lisa is a force. In fact, her web series Lisa and Amy Are Black has amassed upwards of eight views. With TV writing credits including Black-ish (ABC), Dr. Ken (ABC), Alex, Inc. (ABC), and Broad City (Comedy Central), it’s unclear why her mother thinks she “works down at the radio station.” McQuillan is currently staffed on Freeform’s Grown-ish, and writing feature film Everything Must Go (Bad Robot) along with rapper, Logic. Lisa enjoys deleting stuff from her DVR and writing bios.
